Frequently, I’m blown away at how simple an amazingly creative idea can be. This week I found from the UK sponsored by Orange a different type of advergame.
Derek’s movements are tracked and shared in real time on the site which helps in making your “bull spotting” prediction. The site also features an amusing “expert analysis by a vet, a farmer and an animal psychologist who share their tips to better understand Derek’s behavior.
The game invites users to guess where Derek (the bull) will find himself at a given time. Derek is wearing a GPS collar and every 20 seconds his image location is captured with a date and time stamp. This is then sent up to a satellite which in turn pings the image and sends it back down to earth. The website retrieves the image and posts Derek’s location to the web site.
Users then register and select a square on a grid that they think Derek will be at and then the GPS system pinpoints his location in real time and the person that selected the matching square wins tickets to the Glastonbury Festival.
